On the 17th of March on Muruntau quarry, Central Mining Administration, there was a great event in the history of the Combinat gold miners – commissioning of the steeply-inclined conveyor, which has become a key link in OCCP complex.

A 44-year long history had preceded this day. In spring 1967 the first explosion was on Muruntau. Since then, from the career cup were seized more than one billion 300 million cubic meters of mined rock.

Zarafshan manufacturing complex stays one of the main gold workshop of Uzbekistan over the years, and mine "Muruntau" – is a main testing ground for new techniques, technologies and equipment.

But at a certain stage of the deposit development Muruntau CCM complex, which was built in the 80's of the last century, began to hinder the development of the quarry working area. This led to a reduction in front of mining operations due to temporary preservation of its working area. Therefore there was a choice at the leadership of the company: to eliminate the old CCM complex and back to extensive way of increasing the fleet of dump trucks, or to use new technology intensification conveying ore.

For further extraction required deepening of quarry. In 90th years, was first elaborated substantiation of the possibility of installing steeply inclined conveyor. The new technology has been adopted, as an innovative solution aimed at the use of more advanced technologies for the development mining and transport equipment.

This required huge costs, and with the support of the country’s government, the collective the Enterprise has begun to solve this intricate problem.

In 2007 "The terms of reference for the manufacture and supply of custom-made equipment for the CCM-ore pit" Muruntau was signed. Implementation of the project were engaged research institutes "UzgeorangmetLITI" - Tashkent "UkrNIIproekt" - Kiev, leading experts NKMZ, workers of the Central Mining Administration, Zarafshan construction management, mechanics, energy, "kipovtsy" Navoi MMC.

Thanks to joint efforts in 2010, the blue powerful SIC arrow crossed one of borders of quarry "Muruntau."

Steeply inclined conveyor SIC 270 with a lifting height of 270 meters and angle of 37 degrees can be called the first-born in the global mining and metals industry. The length of its inclined part from movable pulley to drive pulley is 525, the horizontal part - 408 meters.

Construction and commissioning of this unique object reduced length of conveying ore for a mile. At the same time the hoisting height of the ore from horizon unloading to receiving bunker to a mark railroad rails increased by 30 meters.

Increased productivity of rail transport, involved in the delivery of ore to the hydrometallurgical plant number 2, by reducing the distance of transportation, as the new third reloading career point located 2.3 km closer than the old one.

For overloading ore from conveyor to the railway there was designed suppressor-piler which allow to reduce the downtime of the train to 30 minutes. It should be noted that loading trains with conveyors in the mining practice used only for the loading of coal and its use in the rocky ground is unique. It is no accident RLS-3500 has a serial number 1.

The result of this large-scale investment project didn’t keep waiting. On the southern pitedge starting from the 4th quarter of 2010, carried out liquidation of constructions withdrawn from operation. Currently excavator processes the first stripping horizon directed to phase reactivation ore areas, which will to begin their partial mining and processing in 2012.

The use of steeply inclined conveyors SIC 270 allows you to expand the depth of a quarry to 1000 meters, to increase the productivity of dump trucks per 30 percent and to reduce annual mileage cars per 30.4 percent, and the number of dump trucks, drivers and repairmen – per 27.2 percent, the consumption of fuel and lubricants - per 37 percent. This significantly reduces gas pollution.

The expected economic effect of implementing the project in 2011 will be 2440 million soums or $ 1.4 million.

With a welcoming speech at the meeting were General Director of Navoi MMC K.S.Sanakulov, deputy governor of Navoi region A.A.Eshonkulov, chief of mine "Muruntau" F.A.Kravchenko and foreign partners.

It remains to add that the use of the world's only steeply inclined conveyor SIC 270 adopted as a core element of the development strategy "Muruntau" quarry.
